Landscape Lets Me Show You Nature's Story

One of the points in all of my studying yesterday was that landscapes don't tell a story. I actually bought into that but now on a cold and bright morning I'm no longer convinced. I think there's a lot of talk about what photos should be or do and sometimes I think there's way too much talk. My perspective is that my landscapes let me show you things. I can show you something moody, bright and cheerful, mysterious or colorful for the sake of beauty.

If I tell you my story behind this photo then I've ruined the premise of me bringing a place in nature to you so that you can wander. The Cuyahoga Valley is all of the things that I mentioned in the first paragraph and there's a sense of history. There's also a sense of destruction and recovery. That's why many times you see what I refer to as an interrupted landscape. It means nature is recovering and sometimes there are no great angles and the composition is showing you the land as it is with all of its imperfections if that's the type of place that we're in.

I won't tell you the story here except to say this it was raining. Now you can step into the picture and make your discoveries and use your imagination or just admire all of the colors and textures of nature.
