My First Try at Luminar - Before Shot Included

Going back to my previous post about being regimented - I'm also a realist to the point of being a purist. Lately though I've found myself thinking impure photography thoughts such as; I wonder what that would look like if I could add a moon? Maybe a rainbow? Why are Ohio skies drab grey all of the time? What if I could change it?

Well, I purchased Luminar. My excuse is that I have committed to creating my own moody photography for my writing and that's completely different than trying to push landscapes with extra pieces parts or replacements.

I am not paid to give opinions by anyone in case you wonder; so here's my first 5 thoughts:

1. I like it - I have to spend some time with it but overall it's a nice break from my quest for super realism. For my writing it will work just fine and it puts me in a more creative mode.

2. I don't like names of effects if I don't what they do (e.g. mystic). I'll go through them and figure them out but it's just easier knowing what mystic is supposed to accomplish.

3. Templates - Not a fan.

4. I'm not going to give up Lightroom anytime soon. It's similar in operation but the controls seem heavy with their effects.

5. Skies - Give me more!!! It's a fun break from the skies that are common here at certain times of the year and surprisingly not to much different than a really good day out in Ohio nature. I can always make my own as well when opportunity presents itself.

There's my 5 minute take experimenting with 1 photo. I'm not going to replace all of my grey Ohio skies because I've found dehaze brings out the details that make this place unique but here and there I just may create a mood photo.
